Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy applies to all Chrome extensions published under the crxkit umbrella, including AI Video Dubbing.

Data sent to our servers

When you use AI Video Dubbing, the extension sends the following to our backend:

  • Video ID — to identify which video to fetch subtitles for
  • Target language — your chosen dubbing language
  • Subtitle text (fetched from YouTube on your device) — sent to our server for translation

What we do NOT collect

  • No personal information (name, email, address, phone)
  • No browsing history
  • No YouTube account information
  • No cookies or login tokens
  • No video content (only subtitles)

Anonymous usage analytics

To improve the product, we collect minimal anonymous usage events:

  • Event type (e.g., "install", "dub clicked", "dub succeeded", "dub failed")
  • Target language chosen
  • Error type when something fails (e.g., "network", "subtitle")
  • Approximate country (2-letter code, derived from request IP by our CDN)
  • Anonymous device ID (randomly generated, stored locally in your browser, never linked to identity)

We do not collect: user identity, video content, subtitle text, translation results, IP addresses, or any data that could identify you personally.

Third-party services

  • DeepSeek API — used for subtitle translation. Subtitle text is sent to DeepSeek under their privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Edge TTS — used to generate voice-over audio from translated text.
  • Cloudflare — our backend traffic passes through Cloudflare's network for delivery.

Data storage

Subtitle and translation results are cached on our servers (by content hash) to improve performance and reduce API costs. No identifiable link to individual users is kept. Generated audio is streamed live and not stored after the request completes.

Data security

All communication between the extension and our backend uses HTTPS encryption. Our backend is hosted on Cloudflare Tunnel with no direct public IP exposure.

Your rights

Because we do not associate any data with personal identity, there is nothing to "delete" per user. If you uninstall the extension, the anonymous device ID stored in your browser is removed automatically.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be noted in extension release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
